Jobs and the economy

Consumers are the true job creators. Without a healthy and thriving middle class there is no market for American goods and services. To create jobs we must do three things: (1) respect our workers rights; (2) pay them living wages and benefits; and (3) provide for retirement.

My father was a state university professor and a member of AFSCME. Although he passed away in 2002, my Mom continues to benefit from Dad’s union pension and union negotiated healthcare benefits.

Social Security must be strengthened. I strongly support unions, the right of workers to organize and collectively bargain, and the right to a living wage. We need to encourage new types and classes of organized labor — Uber Drivers, Gigging professionals, Solo Practitioners, Creatives, all need the bargaining and benefits that come from collective action. I look forward to working with organized labor, employers large and small, and all working people as their U.S. Representative for the 4th District. As your candidate for Congress, I am thrilled to be endorsed by the AFL-CIO.
